A non-medicated alcohol detox can include, but is not limited to, delirium tremens, convulsions, hallucinations, stomach cramps, nausea, headaches, insomnia, sweating and diarrhoea. A medicated inpatient detox would alleviate most, if not all of these symptoms.

What are the withdrawal symptoms of a heroin detox?

A non-medicated alcohol detox can include convulsions, hallucinations, stomach cramps, nausea, headaches, insomnia, itchy skin, hot / cold sweats and diarrhoea. As with all inpatient detoxes, these symptoms will be greatly alleviated if not diminished completely.

What are the withdrawal symptoms of a methadone detox?

Effects of a non medicated methadone detox would be an amplified version of a heroin detox and only more protracted.

Do you do Naltraxone / Naltrexone implants?

We do not offer Naltrexone implants owing to the following:

  1. It is a surgical procedure to implant them, this procedure carries risks.
  2. At the end of treatment you are left with an empty case inside their body.
  3. If you have an accident and require pain relief, most pain killers will not work as they are opiate based.
  4. They do nothing to address the psychological affects of drug addiction.
  5. Clients have been known to gouge the cartridges out when they have intense craving to use heroin or other opiates.

What will I need to bring to your detox centre?

  1. You will need to bring any medication that you are currently taking.
  2. A form of identification.
  3. A little spending money, no more than £120 per week,
  4. A suitcase of clothes although you were going on a long haul holiday.

You may also wish to bring a reading book.

I am addicted to opiate based pain killers, if I detox what pain relief will I get?

Our doctors may need to speak to your pain management clinic prior to arrival so we can collaboratively work to find a suitable alternative.

Do you have disabled access at your detox clinics?

Yes, we have disabled detox facilities at our detox clinic in Bradford, Yorkshire. We will need to complete an assessment with you prior to admission to assess individual needs.

Can I get funding for a detox at your clinics?

Funding applications are few and far between and can be time consuming to apply for. It can be deflating to wait patiently for a funding application, only to have it rejected. By far the quickest and most effective way to access treatment is to pay privately. Costs can be as little as £2500 and in most cases we can get you started today.

Where can I get a sedation detox?

We would never recommend a sedation detox. Sedation can be very dangerous and sometimes result in death.

Can I use heroin to detox at your clinics?

No, though we can use some heroin substitutes to detox you.

Will I be comfortable throughout the detox process?

Our doctors will do everything possibly to ensure that you have a comfortable detox.

What is the difference between a detox and rehab?

Detox centres tend to be shorter admission times with counselling targeted at relapse prevention and focus more on the physical withdrawal symptoms of the detox. Rehab is more about tackling the underlying reasons why you start using drugs and working on changing the psychological addiction and associated engrained behaviours.

What happens if the detox isn’t going well?

We urge you to be honest with our medical team from the outset. Sometimes clients have a tendency to lie about the amounts of drugs and alcohol that they are taking so they can get additional medication. If you are honest from the outset there will not normally be any complications with the detox. However, if required, our medical team can review your detox very quickly.
