What are the main benefits of a medically supervised Drug Detox?

For any individual who has developed a drug addiction, a supervised drug detox will, in most cases, entirely eliminate distressing withdrawal symptoms. Depending on the combination of drugs and alcohol consumed, these symptoms can include vomiting, profuse sweating, insomnia, and in the most severe cases, seizures and death. This is why drug detox, in a safe environment, is so important. It affords the individual the best chance of sustained recovery from drug addiction, as we monitor and manage each individual’s physical cravings for drugs and / or alcohol during the drug detox period, overseen at all times by our medical team. Our drug counselling team also provide expert psychological care for all clients at Trust The Process Counselling Centre, to ensure there is full emotional and psychological support for each individual at this stressful time. Our primary objective for all our clients is to ensure that they remain stable throughout their drug detox. We evaluate each client’s drug detox regime on a daily basis.

What information will I need to provide about myself?

All we ask from our clients is that they are totally honest with us about their drug usage, so that we can provide the most appropriate and effective care. We are not here to judge anyone – we just need to know the facts. In order to devise the most appropriate drug detox plan and ongoing care for each individual, we will require information about what combination of drugs and alcohol have been used, over what period of time, and if there are any significant changes in the amounts that have been taken. We also seek to understand the psychological reasons for drug taking, so that we can address these in group work and where required 1-2-1 sessions, providing choices to each client about how they live their life going forward.

How do I know if I am drug dependent?

Most people who are drug dependent will know that they are, if they are able to be totally honest with themselves. Asking for help can be one of hardest things to do for a drug dependent individual, but it is the absolutely necessary first step in finding a new way of life. Our residential treatment centre provides the level of support required for individuals to understand how they can maintain a drug-free life, from the drug detox right through to the free Aftercare service, which is available to all clients who complete the programme. For those who are in doubt, drug dependence can be determined by a number of factors, most commonly by the fact that the individual experiences one or more unpleasant side effects when they attempt to stop using drugs and / or alcohol by themselves. There are also a number of behavioural indicators which point towards drug dependence.
