Heroin Detox Clinic UK

Call for a UK Detox at one of our clinics

A heroin detox is recommended for any regular user, as it is a highly addictive drug, both physically and psychologically. Stopping heroin use very suddenly, without a supervised detox, is potentially very risky and is not recommended. If you, or your relative or friend, is feeling frightened about heroin detox, we offer a supportive, caring and friendly environment. The team at our UK based clinics are highly trained in dealing with all aspects of withdrawal so please feel free to call for a friendly chat or feel free to come and have a look around.

What you can expect from a private heroin detox at one of our UK based Clinics

Our team of addictions speacialist design an individual detox programme to suit your individual needs and requirements. They will take into account how long and how much heroin you have been using in addition to the method of ingestion. If you have been smoking heroin it is likely that your detox will be tailored differently than if you have been injecting. In addition, if you have been injecting it is likely that our medical team may also need to treat you for risky injecting sites and abscesses. We consider the different types of opiate that clients have been using, as well as any other drug addiction.

The heroin detox typically lasts between 1 and 3 weeks, at the start of the treatment programme depending on the opiates used. Methadone and dychydrocodeine typically takes a lot longer to detox. Our preferred medication for heroin detox is Subutex or Britolfex. Subutex works as a part blocker (in that it blocks the affects of opiates) and partly replicates the effects of heroin. This can be beneficial for treating the

psychological aspects of heroin withdrawal. Although our doctors prefer to use Subutex and Britlofex we have access to all medications which  can include Methadone and DF118’s (dihydrocodeine).

In the early and later parts of withdrawal insomnia can occur, in order to ensure that sleeping isn’t a problem our team may also prescribe a short course of sleeping tablets. Additional medications such as vitamins B1 and Thiamine can work to provide essential vitamins to help the body regain strength and stimulate appetite.

Will a detox stop you having withdrawal symptoms?

Our heroin detox programmes are designed to prevent withdrawal symptoms. Our clients typically feel comfortable and stable throughout the heroin detox with minimal craving, if any at all. If craving does occur during the withdrawal process it would normally be owing to the psychological withdrawal symptoms, as apose to the physical. Our clinics are designed with various counselling and workshops to address the psychological aspects of withdrawal and addiction, offering full and varied programmes each day. We not only provide safe and effective heroin detox programmes, but detox from other opiates, including methadone and DF118 (dyhdracodine). To start a drug-free life, get in touch with us today on 0845 686 2323.

What are the physical signs of heroin addiction?

Physical signs of heroin dependency can occur when a person stops taking heroin an begins to enter into withdrawal – symptoms can include intense craving for heroin (both physical and psychological), sweating, vomiting, aches and pains, abdominal cramps. Without medication, these symptoms are typically at a peak for 2 to 3 days, but more in extreme cases. Heroin withdrawal can be worsened when there is dependency on other drugs as well. We would be happy to go through a free independent assessment with you to establish your precise needs. Call to day pm 0845 686 2323.

How else will you be supported?

Intensive counselling is provided in groups, to deal with all difficulties arising from the heroin detox, which may include insomnia, emotional fragility and sudden mood changes. Through this process, clients learn to trust the counselling staff at our clinics. Through the ongoing support of counsellors and peers, clients find new and healthy avenues to deal with strong emotions and develop a new-found ability to manage their own lives and issues successfully. We also provide a number of beneficial complementary therapies. To speak to someone today who can help, call free on 0845 686 2323 or fill out the contact form.
